Today I got to meet Hannah Thompson, Bae (Carpenter), Nattavot Boonjuang and a mess of other fun, friendly folks. I'm not sure who arranged everything but I got taken on a tour of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts Khon Kaen University, a cool exhibit at the museum on campus and Bae's woodworking studio. Bae Drove, Nattavot accompanied and a woman (who's name I wish I had), served as my interpreter. Bae and Nattavot are both artists so I got to see some of their work, my interpreter was kind, helpful and funny. I felt really privileged to have them take the time to show me the cool parts of their city.
They said that most people don't know much about Khon Kaen and the Thai people don't think much of it as a place to go but with the university and so many artists, it's actually pretty cool.
Here are some pics. They don't really do justice to the space or what's being created there but, it's the best I could do with my phone camera.
