The flight to KK from Bangkok is short and sweet and getting to town was a quick taxi ride. I checked in to my hotel downtown and then went in search of food. I ended up eating mediocre Indian food, of all things, at the Blues Bar, right down the street from me as I was too lazy to deal with a more elaborate search.
My hotel is basically right in the middle of the downtown party sector right off of what is sometimes called "Disco Street". It also happens to be a center for "farang" hotels/restaurants catering to westerners to a large degree so you see lots of expats hanging at the local open air bars, playing pool and drinking beer. There are a bunch of bars and clubs that have live music, including some Thai rock bands but mostly cover bands playing songs from the 70's and 80's. It's kind of a weird scene but people are friendly and inviting.
The good news of the day? My bed is super comfy and I have a huge bathtub!
